Special Diets

Kosher: We will be glad to provide non-pork alternatives to anything that has pork in it (probably just the sausages at the picnic) if you let us know – but genuine Kosher food is very hard to find in Valley City. If you need it, please let Ann know by June 10 so she can find it in Bismarck. You are also welcome to bring your own (BYO) anything you wish! Dishes should be no problem if you don’t mind using picnic dishes for everything.

Vegetarian: The chili has meat in it, but also contains beans in chili gravy, and I will be glad to heat up a bowl of the beans for you. For the other meals, you can probably pick and choose – and be sure to bring a filling vegetable dish to the picnic! Anything really unusual, like a soy-protein meat substitute, is BYO.

Celiac/Gluten-free: I was on this diet for a while myself, until my doctor decided it wasn’t the problem, so you have my sympathy! There may be gluten in the canned ingredients of the chili. For the other meals, you can probably pick and choose. Please let us know ahead so we will have gluten-free foods to choose from. Anything really unusual, like gluten-free muffins, is BYO.

Low-carb: Aren’t “low-carb” and “Mensan” oxymorons? J Seriously, you can buy two portions at the Friday dinner, or we might be able to pair you with a vegetarian. If you want extra meat at the picnic, please let us know ahead of time. Low-carb versions are BYO.

If there are any other special dietary needs, please let us know ASAP!!! We don’t want anyone to miss the RG because of diet!
